Only 30% of ancient trees remain standing due to deforestation. Such practices contribute to depleting wildlife habitats, compromising water supply, and greenhouse gases. The African Rainforest Conservancy believes that inspiring the locals that live near and in the rainforest to practice conservation may greatly help contribute to boosting our ecosystem. With that being said, what The African Rainforest Conservancy is doing is crucial for Mother Earth. We’re here to tell you why you should support ARC:
5. In an era where global warming is a real problem, anything and everything helps. From recycling, to riding a bicycle, to educating others on the effects of deforestation – all of this is working towards a better environment and giving Mother Nature the band-aid she needs.
4. ARC actually educates people with environmental education programs. They even go a step further and include school-run tree nurseries in 200 primary and secondary schools, as part of their project initiative. As the saying goes, “give a man a fish and he eats for a day; teach a man to fish and he eats for life.” Education is key!
3. They are working to protect 250,000 acres of land in Tanzania, with their field partner the Tanzania Forest Conservation Group. On this land, lives thousands of animals. Not only do the humans experience the negative effects of deforestation, but so do the animals – at an exponentially larger cost. Their homes become destroyed. They have no where to thrive and eventually die.
2. The African Rainforest Conservancy offers alternative sources of income and and fuel-efficient stoves. ARC discourages illegal logging, charcoal production, and forest conversion to agricultural land.
1. They have planted millions trees! This is to provide alternative sources of timber and fuel-wood so the forests are left untouched. In addition, this provides oxygen for our environment, and also provides more homes for our furry friends.
