The height of pet fashion goes up with E&E Hallstrom Haute Couture. Since September of 2004, sisters, Eva and Eleonor, began a new venture for them both in designing and creating fine doggie garments. The pieces are not only designed from scratch, but they are also made entirely by hand. They are all skillfully tailored and have “… been cut, sewn, knit, embroidered, and embellished by the sisters themselves.”
The company has had a great start being that both Eleonor and Eva have years of experience in design. Eleonor has been a graphic designer for over twenty years and Eva has worked in advertising in a very fashion oriented medium. Their cultural background also plays much of an influence on their designs. Growing up between two very different countries, Scandinavia and Venezuela, they acquired a taste for bold colors and textiles rich in color.
Currently they have ten categories in their collection for all seasons and occasions, including costume parties! One change they are trying to employ is to create more sizes. According to Eva most brands only carry four sizes and it tends to make the pieces bulky and unattractive. E&E Hallstom makes seven different sizes because they want to have something that plays well with all dogs shapes like Elie Saab does when designing dresses for women, a designer that both Eleonor and Eva look up to.
Every garment is unique and “… each stitch is different from the one next to it, each stone has been embroidered in a slightly different pattern than the next coat (and) we love that.”
