New Yorkers are howling with delight because animal lover and Academy Award Nominated Actress Anne Hathaway will host the 2012 Women’s Media Awards tonight at Guastavino’s.
The ceremony is presented by the Women’s Media Center (WMC) who recognizes women who use their media platforms to tell the stories, facts, and solutions crucial to all viewers and to advance opportunities for women in media. Tonight the WMC will honor Pat Mitchell, Martha Nelson, Lisa Ling, Laura Ling & Sarah Hoye for their contributions to advancing women in media.
“I am a supporter of the Women’s Media Center,” says Anne Hathaway. “I believe in their ongoing mission and advocacy for women and girls worldwide to be more visible and powerful through a variety of important programs & initiatives.”
The actress, who was recently spotted with husband Adam Shulman in Brooklyn walking their adorable chocolate Labrador Esmeralda, is also awaiting the release of her new film, “Les Miserables” on Christmas day. The eight-year-old Labrador was given to Anne by her ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri. Esmeralda has been by Anne’s side since she split with Raffaello in 2008.
Anne is no stranger to the animal cause and even received a fur-tastic wedding present from PETA – a steer named Peter, who resides at The Cow Sanctuary in New Jersey. PETA sponsored the steer in Anne’s name to commemorate her wedding day and World Farm Animals Day.
