Women Are Top Dogs at The White House Project’s 2012 Epic Awards
What do Barbie, Anna Sophia Robb, Tas Dossal, Marie C. Wilson, Ashley Bush, Tamsen Fadal, Geena Davis, and Wendy Diamond all have in common? They’re all pet-moms and members of The White House Project’s female-leadership movement! The White House Project is an amazing initiative to support women in leadership positions in business and politics, with a focus on women aged 21-35.
Last night, some of the program’s 14,000 nationwide alumnae came together for the 10th annual Epic Awards in New York City. The Epic Awards honor White House Project participants and supporters who embody the spirit of ambition, creativity, and knowledge that the foundation encourages.
Academy Award winner Geena Davis, pet mom to cat Kitty and donkey Don Quixote, hosted the 2012 event, honoring five important contributors to female leadership development, including Barbie — the iconic girl-power doll with forty-seven animals of her own!
Also in attendance were Actress Anna Sophia Robb sans Bella Roux (her Maltipoo), who will be playing young Carrie Bradshaw in the upcoming series The Carrie Diaries and is known for starring alongside a cute canine in the 2005 film Because of Winn-Dixie, left her real-life canine companion at home to attend the event along with Animal Fair’s Wendy Diamond and many other inspiring women.
Pet-parenting is a great way to exercise the same skills and positive character-traits fostered by the project, including responsibility, compassion, and a strong sense of activism. There’s a reason why behind so many great leaders, there’s a great pet – imagine what these empowered women can do for the cause of animal activism!
