In Wendy’s Doghouse — Jake Short and his Adopted Dog, Skipper!

wendy and lucky diamond FB

Jake Short, American teen actor and star of the Disney Channel Original Series A.N.T. Farm absolutely loves his adopted dog, Skipper! Although he plays an art-prodigy on the show, when he’s off set, Jake loves to skateboard, dance, and run around with the five-year old mutt he and his family recently adopted from the Glendale Humane Society. We caught up with Jake and Skipper in a rare moment of down-time to find out what the life of a talented teen and his equally talented dog is like!

WD: I know you adopted Skipper – where did you adopt?

JS: We adopted him from The Glendale Humane Society.

WD: What was it like when you first saw Skipper? Was it puppy-love at first sight?

JS: We met with him across the street from the shelter at this little park. We were interested in another dog, but she went straight to my parents; Skipper ran straight to us, and it truly was love at first sight.

WD: Did you name Skipper or did he come with his name?

JS: It was predetermined, but I think it’s perfect. He’s very skippy. He’s skippy, like smooth, like peanut butter. He’s also all over the place. Sometime he’ll just be taking a nap one day and then five minutes later he’ll walk in the room spazzing out. Running around, so cute!

WD: If Skipper was a celebrity, who would he be?

JS: Taylor Swift! He’s quiet, but at times he’s very loud and energetic!

WD: Does he sing?

JS: He barks in harmonious types of ways!

WD: Does he ever go to work with you?

JS: All the time! We don’t like to leave him at home alone for long, so he comes to set with us everyday; he’s my guard dog.

WD: How does he get along with everybody on set?

JS: He gets along very well. As soon as you come in the room, he’ll start trying to get your attention. He loves to play.

WD: If Skipper could have a role in a movie, what would it be?

JS: Old Yeller, but I don’t want him to die. Skipper would probably be very good at acting, cause of course, his dad is an actor, and I would love to give him some lessons.

WD: Is Skipper your responsibility?

JS: I clean up after Skipper, and give him food , water and play with him. My grandma helps a lot, she’s always putting his food out when I’m doing school. She walks him and I skateboard with him!

WD: What’s the craziest thing Skipper does for fun?

JS: He’s a very good dancer, so we love to dance together when we have time to play! He does a few crazy things, like tearing the insides out of squeaky-toys. He’s very energetic.

WD: If you weren’t an actor, what would you want to be when you grow up – something involving animals?

JS: As of now, I’m pretty solid as an actor. I may want to go to college and study acting, directing and producing, because it’s good to do more than one thing. I focus a lot on my academics and I really want to minor in psychology, cause I think it’s cool to read people and animal’s minds.

WD: What are you doing for Skipper’s future?

JS: Keeping him healthy and happy. I hope he lives 100 years. i love my buddy.

Jake, we bet Skipper loves you too – we know we do! Be sure to catch Jake on The Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm. And if you want to be a great pet parent like Disney Channel’s Jake Short, head to your nearest animal shelter and adopt your own superstar dog or cat. You’ll get a friend that will stick by your side like peanut butter. If Jake can do it, you can too!

Jake now is in the Guinness Book of World Records because he Got Lucky!
