WASHINGTON ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE The Washington Animal Rescue League, founded in 1914, extended its services in 1996 to include a full-service, low-cost Medical Center for qualifying pet owners. The Center sees about 3,000 animals each year. Through its SHARE program – Shelter Animal Relief Effort – the League works to combat the effects of animal over population and aid in difficult pet adoptions. It also holds special events throughout the year like Free Spay and Neuter week in September and Presents for Paws (food, toy and blanket drive) in December. It is truly the best.
