Now, Valli is taking a break to tell us about fall’s hottest looks and finest products, including her line of lavish lip glosses and products “Uni” that has trend setters abound at their nearest beauty counters. We asked Valli what to look for in good, animal cruelty-free makeup and beauty products this fall:
AF: What’s your favorite way to keep hair healthy and shiny as the weather gets cooler and drier.
VO: One thing I have learned from hairdressers is that you can buy grape seed oil at a health food store and it is a great trick for dry hair. Let it sit in for an hour before you wash and you’ll notice a vast difference. A great hair oil is Rasta Hair Oil’ by Marietta Chattel. ‘Keraste’ products are also wonderful for the hair; the serum is great for curly and straight hair. I have used it since it first came from Europe in the 80s. I also like ‘Kerex’ products for hair; they have a [fabulous] honey shampoo.
AF: What are the hottest color shades for the fall?
VO: This fall, purple and fuscia are hot, [especially] rich purples, magenta and pinks, all deep tones. Pink always hangs around and looks good on a lot of people too, keep in mind.
Lancôme’ makes great colors for eye shadows. As well as ‘Shu Umera, ‘Nars’ and‘Makeup Forever,’ as they all have a lot of pigment.
AF: Tell us all about your ‘Uni’ line? How did you come up with your unique ideas for your lip products?
VO: We came out about 8 years ago. Since then we have expanded to some high-end beauty stores across the country. We are in Long Island at a place called the Beauty Bar and in Los Angeles at Palmetto.
