Ingrid Hoffmann has received national fame for her English and Spanish cooking programs; Simply Delicioso on Food Network and Delicioso on Univision.com. She has appeared on Oprah, The Bonnie Hunt Show, NBC’s The Today Show and CNN’s Chef-preneurs, and featured in Latina Magazine, Food Network Magazine and People en Espanol. In her cookbook, Simply Delicioso, she dishes up new and classic Latin cuisine.
She loves to bring her dog Salsita to give her advice on preparations during the show. Bubbles of thoughts appear over Salsita’s head with comments on the food or the guest that Hoffmann would have on her show that day, but is usually caught up in trying to eat crumbs that fall onto the floor.
Hoffmann’s love for dogs stemmed from when she was a child. Having grown up with dogs all her life, welcoming Salsita to the family was only natural. The Yorkie is always with Hoffmann, whether being on the set or just helping her relax at home. “He’ll get on top of me, lie on my neck like a fur color and we sleep that way,” Hoffmann explains. “The minute he does that, he helps me calm down. Animals are therapeutic.”
With broadcasting shows in two languages, it can get overwhelming for Hoffmann, but she finds it exciting and inspiring. “It’s a fun challenge. The different foods, styles, and concepts, it becomes two different shows.” The excitement continues with Salsita, who loves to push his bowl to his owner with his snout, informing her that it’s feeding time. “He is really a ruler,” Hoffmann says. “When he wants something, you can’t get away from not doing it.”
Hoffmann is already committed to getting another dog in the future. Her passion for helping and rescuing dogs from the pound is something she feels she must do. Until that day happens, she and Salsita will both continue to be cooking partners both on and off the television screen.
