Tompkins Square Dog Run (New York, NY)

New York City’s first official dog run, Tompkins Square Park is a popular spot in the East Village. Locals are buzzing about how much better and safer it is today than it was years ago. The frequent puppy visitors are one of the main attractions of the park, and it’s no surprise. Who wouldn’t want to spend their relaxing Sunday afternoon watching puppies swim in bone-shaped pools? That’s right. The park has pools shaped like dog bones for your pooch to cool him or herself off in before continuing on their adventures meeting local pups and famously trendy residents alike. New York City has long been known as the concrete jungle, so this patch of leafy green and aqua blue is a relief for dogs and their pet parents alike! Join in on the fun for their Annual Halloween Dog Parade and help raise funds to maintain the run and keep it a howling good time for everyone!

Beneful Dream Dog Park (Alabaster, AL)

It’s not your typical doggy pool… Beneful Dream Dog Park is more like a doggy water park! There are lots of places to take your pooch for a dip, but how many parks do you know of that have hoops and fountains and even a miniature football field? Beneful, a popular dog food brand, hosted a contest in 2011 and Jenny Wilson, a local, won it for the town. She submitted a video and an essay telling Beneful what exactly she would do with the prize money ($500,000… bow-wow!). If you or your pooch are looking for a fun change from the usual pool to soak in, try out this little Southern gem.
