Tom Arnold claims getting his dog, Chloe, was to win his wife Shelby’s heart

Before their marriage, actor Tom Arnold convinced his wife, Shelby, to move in with him only after his purchase of a shitzu named Chloe. Chloe is not only a heartthrob, but also a very lucky dog indeed. She has survived a five-story fall from an apartment building with only a broken pelvic bone.

These days, with a little help from Chloe, Tom and Shelby are happily married with two new additions to their family: Charlie and Cooper, both Maltese Poodles. All three dogs are like siblings, which naturally brings some sibling rivalry for Mommy and Daddy’s attention. Tom enjoys sleeping alongside the dogs, while Shelby prefers going on long walks with the kids.

Tom Arnold is first and foremost known as a comedian, but he also has his share of films in his repertoire. His first big film debut was in True Lies with Arnold Swartzeneger. His other famous movies include Austin Powers and Nine Months. He has also recently guest starred on MTV’s Punk’d featuring Ashton Kutcher.

Tom’s show on Fox, “Best Damn Sports Show,” is a sports show that likes to have a ‘fun’ environment for athletes to appear on. The show has even had dogs make appearances; one time, they needed a replacement and a monkey filled in. Tom thought he was the best actor on the set!

When Tom and Shelby are on the road traveling or shooting a movie, their “kids” stay at home with their aunt or grandma.

Tom is currently very busy with his thirty-eighth movie Soul Plane, scheduled to be released in Spring 2004. Soul Plane is based on the first black airline where Tom plays the signature white guy. By the way, there’s one dog in the movie after all, Snoop Dogg.

When not spending time on the set, the Arnolds strongly support the LHASA Happy Homes, a private non-profit rescue and foster care organization created as a safe haven and permanent placement for homeless pups. For the Arnolds, this is no newfound appreciation or benevolence for animals. Even back in the fifth grade, Shelby Arnold was rescuing a new mother of puppies in the recess yard of her school. Shelby brought the dog home and her family took care of it. As for Tom’s days as a child in lowa, he was always surrounded by pets that were, according to Tom, ‘man dogs’ and not the “girlie” dogs he has now. But these days, the world knows that Tom’s girlie dogs, along with Shelby, are his beloved family!
