Ross Mathews, better known as Ross the Intern, has delightfully charmed audiences as a correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for five and a half years. Even though Ross has gotten to hang out with Gwyneth Paltrow, and has covered everything from The Academy Awards to the Olympics, he is most content when he is in the company of Louise “Wee-Wee” Mathews, his Maltese-Poodle mix. According to Mathews, Louise, rescued from Dog’s Life Rescue, is “one in a million because I have never met anything like her in my entire life. She’s pure concentrated joy, just add water. Every morning when I get ready for work, I fold my pajamas and put them on the bed, and she sleeps on them the entire time I’m gone. I mean, we’re crazy in love. Louise sort of reflects my personality – a real zest for life. Happy, kissy kissy, sweet. And no longer a weight problem!”
Speaking of a weight problem, in addition to working at The Tonight Show, Mathews was most recently seen slimming down, breaking a sweat and helping his team to capture a victory on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club. Mathews even admits that prior to Celebrity Fit Club, Louise ate better than he did. “All her food is organic, and she didn’t eat any junk, but now that I eat healthier, I’ll give her some carrots or cut off a piece of apple for her. So she always gets some of my fruit or vegetables, or even a little chicken. Back in the day it used to be like, ‘Want some Cheetos?’, but we’re both heart-healthy now.”

He also hosts and produces a web show that goes behind the scenes of The Tonight Show entitled The John and Ross Show. “The show has been on for sixty some years, and no one has ever seen the prop room, or the costume room, so we’re presenting it in a fun way,” Mathews explains.
Ross Mathews is a strong advocate for Linda Blair’s World Heart Foundation. World Heart is a non-profit organization that rescues abandoned and abused animals from the streets. The organization gives these animals a second chance at life through rehabilitation. He also attends events for other animal organizations such as Dog’s Life Rescue and Nuts for Mutts.
