Any pet parent who loves taking their dog on the go can attest to the difficulty that can come with traveling with their pup on hand. Despite the fun your furry friend will have by your side, finding facilities to help house your pet can be difficult, especially on the raceway.
Wait, what?
THAT’S RIGHT, the raceway! Just two hours outside of NYC at NASCAR’s Pocono Racetrack, Bark Park, a lush 100-by-100 foot puppy play area, will officially become the first dog park at a national motorsports facility.
Prominent NASCAR pet parents Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hosted a leash-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of this groundbreaking pet playground!
Let’s get to know some of NASCAR’s precious pups that can’t wait for Bark Park to be their playground!
Junebug and Gus
PET PARENTS: Dale Earnhardt Jr. and wife Amy Reimann
Following the tragic death of his former furry friend Killer in January of 2015, Dale Earnhardt Jr. purchased a perfect pup with a mouthful of a name: an Irish Setter named Captain Augustus McCrae, Gus for short!
Gus loves playing outside, and he doesn’t care if his mommy Amy has to pick prickles out of his fur until next June! He is active and well trained: his parents sent him to obedience school!
Junebug, Amy’s precious pomeranian, is also a regular on the racetrack!
Ella and Dallas
PET PARENTS: Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Danica and Ricky bought Dallas in May of 2014 from a breeder in North Carolina, and Ella in September of 2015. The two puppy princesses have been inseparable ever since! Upon Ella’s arrival last year, Dallas (the Miniature Siberian Husky) taught the baby Belgian Malinois everything she needed to know– like not to take her spot in the family car!
Lucy
PET PARENT: Kyle Busch
Lucy, a Pomeranian Yorkie, loves spending her days by her Dad’s side at the track! The racecar noises don’t bother her much, and Busch loves having her waiting for him after a long day full of racing.
