Pets Not Included’ told pet lovers that our furry friends are included in our lives when they launched a line of contemporary furniture for them. The founder of “Pet Not Included”, Sharon Ferris, launched the furniture line to show how standard furniture can evolve into luxurious creations. And the outcome has been luxury sofas for your feisty felines or dynamic doggies to lie on.
It all started in 2002 after Ferris graduated from college. With nothing planned, the recent college grad tried to discover what type of small business she wanted to start that would utilize her knowledge of design. After conversing with a friend about sofas for pets, Ferris realized this was the opportunity she was looking for. “As a pet owner, I wanted to create pieces of furniture that would be appealing and practical for pets and would complement the living space of the pet owner,” Ferris said. So she decided to create something for owners who like to buy their pets extravagant gifts.
The furniture impresario also has created a line of greeting cards. Whether it’s your pooches’ birthday or Christmas, Pet Not Included has handmade cards for every occasion. According to Ferris the pets in your life should be remember and celebrated.
Ferris, the owner of two Labradors- Sky and Samba, says her dogs are her inspiration. “Their ‘woof’ derful,” Ferris quipped. When asked about the future of her empire, she said she will continue creating a unique style of pet furniture that is obtainable yet desirable.
