How does a tropical vacation on your very own island sound?
How about if you could bring your pet, and spoil yourselves together? If it seems too good to be true, take a trip to the beautiful Grove Isle Hotel and Spa in Miami, Florida and relax as your dreams become a reality.
With 20 lush acres of private land on its own island minutes from Miami Beach, it’s no wonder Animal Fair readers gave Grove Isle the 2009 CESAR® Five Dog Bone Award for Most Pet Friendly Resort.
Besides their new state-of-the-art Patrick McEnroe Tennis Center, outdoor swimming pool with a view of the Bay, 85-Slip Marina, and a beautiful beach area (complete with waterside jogging path), Grove Isle also presents guests with an amazing spa experience. Spa Terre offers many luxurious ways to recapture your true self, with services deeply connected to Indonesian, Thai and Balinese tradition.
Indulge in a body treatment such as their Caribbean Seaweed Body Mask or Aussie Airbrush tan, allow yourself to sink into a Watsu pool massage or feel the breeze of the ocean air as your muscles are rubbed back into shape with a Waterside Massage, spruce up a bit at the salon (where Bridal Services and Make-Up Artistry are also offered), or truly soak up the exotic atmosphere by arranging a Javanese Royal Spa Treatment or Thai Kelapa Spa Ritual (which includes a Table Thai massage, body mask and a Thai-style foot massage).
While you’re reconnecting with your body, your doggy love will be getting some pampering of their own! Once you check in, a Grove Isle Creature Concierge will arrange for anything your pup could ever want; playdates with other pets, supervised walking, the best pooch shopping in the area, priority seating at the pool and much more.
Want your pet to have the same kind of relaxing spa treatment you’re going to enjoy? No problem. Set yourself up with a facial, and give Fido his or her own personal reflexology paw massage treatment while they wait for you!
According to Randal Pasut, the General Manager of Grove Isle, the resort takes its wide-open pet policy seriously because “We don’t want to alienate any potential customer.” People who love their pets are just as important to the resort as people traveling without them, and Pasut maintains that he’s never had a single issue with wild and crazy animal shenanigans. “I’ve had more problems with unruly guests than with any pets,” Pasut says. “Sure, I’ve had rooms trashed, but it’s always been unruly people, never pets!”
In addition to their very own concierge service, dogs are given plenty of perks upon arrival. Their own bed, water dish, waste pickup bags, and an unlimited amount of free treats stationed in various areas around the resort are just a few of the special ways Grove Isle keeps its four-legged guests happy. There’s also a lounge on the club level where humans enjoy complimentary beverages and treats and are allowed to bring their pets along to bask in the VIP importance.
Of course, the club level lounge is also fully stocked with complimentary indulgences for dogs!
Feel like giving your pet something even more decadent? Tiffany collars and tags are available for a price.
“Dogs can go absolutely anywhere in our Resort,” Pasut says.
“They can walk around with their owners, swim in the pool… plus, there are always other dogs. We have members and residents here, and a lot of them have pets. I’ve been the only one with a dog in other dog-friendly places, but at Grove Isle, dogs can actually play with other dogs.”
Proving that they’re very worthy of the Five Dog Bone Award, Grove Isle is continuing to improve their pet-loving attitude. Sometimes, after a long, taxing day of facials and sunbathing, a person just doesn’t want to leave their room for dinner. But ordering in-room dining usually leaves one’s pet to feed off scraps. Not at Grove Isle!
“We’re working on expanding the room service menu to include items for dogs,” Pasut says, and invites guests to ask about that possibility when they call about reservations.
Speaking of menu items, if you’ve started to consider Grove Isle, the deciding factor may just be the food. Praised by Zagat’s, Gourmet and AAA, the Resort’s premier restaurant, Baleen Miami, provides exceptional service as well as romantic views of Biscayne Bay. Feel like having your meal by the pool or on the beach? The Baleen staff is more than happy to provide “custom service” for each guest, allowing them to enjoy their lunch or dinner wherever they please!
If you’re looking for an elegant, luxurious spa getaway that includes memorable amenities and a staff that adores your pet just as much as you do, visit Grove Isle and find out just why they were honored with Animal Fair’s 2009 CESAR* Five Dog Bone Award for most Pet-Friendly Resort.
