Nelson Mandela, renowned civil rights activist and politician, passed away at the age of 95.
In addition to his lifetime of work dedicated to ending apartheid in South Africa, Mandela was also the Honorary Patron of the National Council of SPCAs in South Africa. His birthday (July 18) is celebrated internationally as Mandela Day–a day of service where people take action to help change the world, which many animal advocates participate in.
We thank Nelson Mandela for all he’s done to make the world a better place, and the legacy he leaves behind.
