Baby Hope and I had the privilege of attending Purina’s third annual Better With Pets Summit which was held in Brooklyn, New York on November 3, 2015. The daylong summit examined emotional wellness and the evolution of the bond between pets and the people who love them through three panel discussions and experiential exhibits.
In addition, key note speeches were presented by Purina senior research nutritionist Arleigh Reynolds, who has researched the dog and human bond for many years in Alaska and supports of The Frank Attla Youth & Sled Dog Care-Mushing Program; and author and reality television personality Carole Radziwill, who shared how pet ownership has shaped her life experiences. Baby got her moment in the spotlight when she and Carole’s puppy, also named Baby, got to pose for a quick photo shoot!
After mingling with the guests, Baby and I took a quick walk around the experiential part of the Summit which included five educational zones featuring educational touchscreen displays, a dedicated room showcasing healthy environments for cats (not Baby’s favorite spot!), a play lab for agility dogs with wearable technology that monitored their activity as they played, and an area where attendees could see how nutrition impacts cognition and emotional wellness in pets.
Baby thoroughly enjoyed the day and can’t wait until next year’s event!
