The moment Lucky and I arrived at Rosewood’s Five Dog Bone Award winning Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, located in Los Cabos, Mexico at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, I realized this isn’t just a resort; this is a magnifiscent escape for us. We were personally received with our favorite beverage or cocktail, our eyes feasted on a flower-filled oasis, an azure sea, traditional Mexican architecture and artwork, and a group of serpentine swimming pools so beautiful and tempting, I had to hold Lucky from jumping in.
After passing through thr hand-carved cedar door of our suite, we entered in to a spacious living space, the largest standard rooms in Mexico. Visions of the ocean greeted us from every angle of our suite, including a private terrace. All suites have a combination splash-pool and jacuzzi, a wood-burning terracotta fireplace and a telescope.
Once we unpacked, we got a bite to eat at Las Ventanas Sea Grill. The restaurant, positioned on the ocean’s edge, served many favorite traditional Mexican dishes as does The Restaurant. You can dine al fresco on the patios or indoor in air-conditioning. If you choose you can be served day or night on your private ocean view terrace. The way Lucky acts sometimes, this was convenient!
Now for the real fun! Las Ventanas provides a bevy of recreational activities. Guests can enjoy water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing and sea kayaking. If you prefer to stay on land, horseback riding and desert outings by jeep are available. All you tennis pros can show off your game on two championship courts and instructional programs are in the offering if your game is a bit off. Lucky made my tennis game easy with her ball catching abilities. Golfers have six championship golf courses for teeing off. Some Los Cabos regulars reserve tee time three years in advance!
Your pet can indulge in all the pleasurable perks too! Las Ventanas pampers pets with special menus, massages and cabanas. Guests can bring their furry friends to the resort’s beach or pools in a comfortable portable cabana. Lucky, as you can see, enjoyed all the perks! A special Pet Menu is offered featuring Feline and Canine Fancies, including Kitty Captain’s Table, scrambled eggs with poached salmon and Canine Couscous; garbanzo beans, carrots and couscous. If your pet is on a specific diet, a full time chef is on staff to whip up a made-to-order dish. Cats and dogs can enjoy stress-reducing neck massages at the Spa. Lucky was the most relaxed I’ve seen her in months after her massages. If your pet feels the need for a little exercise, a member of the resort staff will walk your pet along the beach or desert anytime you request!
So you don’t miss anything, the resort has a conch shell alert which sounds off whenever migrating massive gray whales pass by. During the December through March whale season, binoculars are placed on wrought iron stands so guests can view one of nature’s spectacular wonders.
After tennis, golf, snorkeling and whale watching, I had to unwind and relax at The Spa at Las Ventanas al Paraiso. This world class spa isn’t just for your pet! It has separate facilities for both men and women with European beauty treatments, steam, sauna and whirlpool. The spa’s renowned massages are a perfect way to relax. I recommend the Austrian Moor Mud Remedy. Not only does it purify, tone and stimulate circulation, it also helps in relieving muscular and arthritic pain. Your entire body is immersed in Moor mud and wrapped in warm towels. An unforgettable moment! You can also find yoga for golfers, personal training, aromatic baths and wraps and massage therapies including ancient oils and rituals.
