Tough talking Detective Lenny Brisco, on NBC’s long-running drama, Law and Order, every week investigates ‘ripped from the headlines’ crimes and helps to bring criminals to justice.

Using his character’s investigatory acumen, Jerry Orbach, who plays Brisco on the series, is working to protect the tame captive animals that are used in ‘canned hunts’, which are described by Orbach as ‘when hunters pay money to kill trapped animals for fun or for trophy.’  The animals used often come from zoos and many times are drugged or tied up in a small fenced in area when shot by hunters.  Never having been aggressed before, these unsuspecting victims are accustomed to smiling faces and pointing fingers rather than pointed guns.  Orbach seeks to expose the unsporting reality of canned hunting through Public Service Announcements underwritten by the Fund for Animals.

Seasoned to the intricacies of the criminal justice system from his years on Law and Order, Orbach knows murder when he sees it, and the public is grateful that ‘to serve and protect,’ for Orbach, applies to all species of innocents.
