James Hyde was born in Lancaster, Ohio. He began modeling and acting at a young age and currently, plays gorgeous Sam Bennett on NBC’s Soap Opera, Passions. Hyde admits, “I chose acting because I knew it would be a life long challenge. I’m working with a great cast on Passions and the crew is terrific. Lot of camaraderie and support.” Additional television appearances include “Sex in the City,” “Models & Mortals,” “Mortal Kombat,” “Miami Sands” and “CSI.” James brought his talent to the big screen as well in features “Let’s Talk About Sex” and “The Blackout” with Dennis Hopper.
Hyde sits down with Animal Fair to give us the scoop on the animals in his life! “I have three pets. First there is Spunky the cat (a Persian). My wife saw him at a pet store and fell in love! The second is Bonzai, a Jack Russell. I went to a breeder and had to choose between fifty puppies. It was very hard. I wanted to take them all home! I was down to four choices, but I loved the way Bonzai was responding to me. The third is Pistol, a crazy Yorkshire Terrier. From his behavior, he thinks he’s a pitbull! Pistol and Bonzai are best friends.”
Apparently, Hyde isn’t the only character in the family. “Pistol will run over and want you to pet him. So, you’ll be rubbing his belly and the next thing you know, he loses it! He growls and tries to bite. Not hard, but a little crazy. When the trash people come, the sound of the truck drives Bonzai crazy! She won’t stop barking until she almost passes out. As for Spunky, he takes it all in. Very aloof and independent, until food time. Then it’s all over. I can’t take the dogs with me on set, but we enjoy going to the park and on long hikes together.” A true romantic at heart, Hyde thinks his pets are great companions. “They just want to be loved, are very comforting and sensitive to our needs.” Sorry ladies… this hunk is taken! “I have been with my wife, Sue-Ling Garcia Hyde for 16 years! It’s true unconditional love and my son, James Moses, is my world.”
