My Lucky was one of the hardest working dogs, and she loved it! She went to work with me everyday, and would greet everyone in the office each morning with a resounding and welcoming bark! She was my inspiration, my muse, my therapy and my best friend. I’m honoring Lucky today.
In 1999, when Lucky began her animal rescue work, and inspired me to create Animal Fair Media, the number of pets euthanized in shelters was 12 million; today the number is 5 million.
We traveled together whenever there was a need to call attention to animals in plight. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, thousands of animals were displaced, and people weren’t feeling much hope. Lucky flew there and lead the Mardi Gras Barkus parade as the Grand Marshal.
Lucky was the Chairdog for the Katrina Pet Memorial and helped to raise thousands of dollars for the homeless animals left without a home or in shelters.
When Lucky wanted to bring pet rescue to national media awareness, she appeared on many media outlets such as the Today Show, Good Morning America, and Fox news. She brought along her furry friends from local shelters that needed loving homes, resulting in hundreds of pet adoptions. She helped to hundreds of thousands of dollars for animal rescue and welfare groups, over the past decade through annual Animal Fair Media events, including Paws For Style, Howloween, St. Pawtricks, Canine Comedy, Yappy Hour and Toys For Dogs!
Lucky was an inspiration, and recognized by corporate America for her vast achievements, she was invited to ring the closing Nasdaq bell. She was also a TV sensation, and the first dog to judge a reality show on CBS’ Greatest American Dog and appeared with me on other shows on ABC, TLC, Bravo, Animal Planet, We and Oxygen.
Guinness Book of World Records awarded Lucky the title of “The Dog Photographed With The Most Celebrities”. Lucky was photographed with over 363 celebrities in her lifetime, everyone from President Bill Clinton, Kim Kardashian, Richard Branson to Kayne West, and always for a worthy cause.
Thank you Lucky for being my wing dog over the past twelve years, you will be dearly missed and I’m committed to carrying on your legacy of animal welfare and rescue.
