Sony is ready to Think Adoption First! The major electronics manufacturer has teamed up with pet supply chain Petco to raise awareness on animal adoption. Sony revealed their new line of pocket sized HD cameras called The Bloggie. There are multiple models; the Bloggie, the Bloggie Duo, which has 2 screens, the Bloggie Touch which sports a sleek touch screen for easy navigation, and the Bloggie 3D- no glasses required! It’s the perfect size to bring with you anywhere, especially on a walk with Fido!
At the event Sony even offered up special tips on the best ways to photograph your pet! If you missed it, don’t worry! On the Petco Foundation website there is a video featuring America’s Next Top Model judge and fashion photographer Nigel Barker offering up some tips on photographing your dog with the new Bloggie camera! Both companies are dedicated to Thinking Adoption First. The Petco Foundation was created to help find dogs and cats forever homes. Since it’s inception in 1999, the foundation has found forever homes for over 2.8 million animals, and they have raised about $81 million dollars. Currently, the foundation donates about $15 million a year to assist companion animals throughout the Unites States. Every month Petco stores across the country hold adoption events where local shelters and animal rescues bring adoptable dogs and cats in hopes of finding them a new family. On the foundation’s website it is easy to see when there will be an adoption event at your local store and what rescues will be there.
Singer/songwriter Gavin Degraw was very excited to be at the event. Born and raised in New York, Gavin Degraw is known for his hit singles “I Don’t Wanna Be,” “In Love with a Girl,” and “We Belong Together” and such albums as Chariot (2003), Free(2009), and his latest, Sweeter (RCA, September 2011). Before he set off on a U.S. tour he performed a free concert at the adoption event in Central Park for the canines and their human companions. Gavin is a lifelong dog lover. “I think I’m like a bulldog,” Gavin said in reference to what breed he’s most like. If he compared his dream woman to a dog breed, he said she would most likely be a Greyhound. “I need somebody to chase. Those are the ones you really think about.”
