With another successful SuperZoo convention now behind us, our doggy wish lists are full of new and exciting pup-friendly products. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the annual expo, SuperZoo is a national show for pet retailers, and an opportunity for businesses and pet experts to share their innovative, pet-friendly ideas.
This year, SuperZoo 2012 took place in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and Wendy and Baby Hope were in the middle of it all, checking out the many products, events, and educational tips that the convention had to offer. From Holly Madison’s new line of pet products (and her latest baby bump), to the literal translation of a doggy bag, to Baby Hope’s new and improved fall wardrobe, the pair had a fun and informative trip. Check out their top ten list of SuperZoo’s products and happenings for the latest in pet lifestyle trends and must have products, whether you have two legs or four.
Pup Feathers Who says dogs can’t be trendsetters? Pup Feathers are original handmade feather extensions, and a must have for all fashion conscious pups. In a world of puppy fashion that consists of mostly of bows, bandanas, and sweaters, Pup Feathers are sure to keep your canine ahead of the fashion curve. So step aside Heidi Klum! Just don’t let your dog’s head fly away with all the attention these feathers will get. Pup Feathers also make great specialty gifts for groomers.
Tagg A lost dog is one of the biggest concerns among pooch owners. Just ask Wendy after Baby Hope went missing in the Merrick treats booth at SuperZoo. If she had been using Tagg, an advanced pet tracking system that uses GPS locator technology, finding Baby Hope would have been a much simpler task. Tagg uses a lightweight tracker that attaches to your dog’s collar, and their new mobile app pinpoints the exact location and will notify you via text message if your dog escapes.
Rao’s Doggy Bag If you’re thinking about getting a quick bite to eat at New York’s most famous Italian restaurant, Rao’s, you may want to “forgetaboutit,” considering a reservation is nearly impossible to secure. Luckily, Rao’s has recreated it’s New York front in Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace, and during her trip to SuperZoo, Baby Hope Diamond received a specialty doggy bag from our good friend and the restaurant’s owner, Frank (who’s dog Mia is a friend of our Family). It’s too bad that most New Yorkers (and dogs) still have such a difficult time getting in, because Baby Hope gave her traditional Raos meatballs and baked penne with roasted eggplant sauce a Five Dog Bone Award! Thankfully Rao’s still offers the best jarred sauce around. Get your paws on some while you can.
Sharper Image Pet Bowls There’s a reason that we don’t enjoy the same food as our pets, and truthfully, we don’t always want to smell it either. Especially when sitting down for a meal. The Motion Activated Pet Bowl from Sharper Image is an innovative, motion sensor bowl that opens to reveal the food when your pet comes near, and closes five seconds after your pet walks away. This will keep bugs out of the bowl and odors out of your home. The Cooling Pet Bowl is the perfect way to keep your pet’s water cool and clean throughout the day, so they don’t have to hydrate with warm, bacteria-laden water that could potentially make them sick. Mealtime just got that much easier.
Doggupy Making new, pet-loving friends is one of the best things about SuperZoo, and during our trip we met the good folks at Merrick Pet Care, Inc., who will be conducting Doggupy, a dog protest for real, nutritious food for dogs that will take place on October 2nd in Union Square. Take a look at Merrick’s own line of real, natural, and delicious foods, recipes, and treats for dogs. Be sure to join them in protesting for the safer, natural, grain free food our dogs deserve. It’s up to us to bark loud enough for the public to hear.
Ruffwear Dog Jackets Ruffwear is the leading producer of high performance, durable dog gear, including jackets, leashes, collars, boots, and more. Baby Hope was the proud recipient of their latest Climate Changer Fleece Jacket, which is a cozy and breathable accessory for any dog on the go. She will be showing off her purple fleece this winter, though they come in a variety of colors and styles to fit your canine’s personality and lifestyle. An active dog without Ruffwear is like hiking without shoes.
Sunbeam Pets Gourmet Treat Maker Remember your favorite childhood dish? The one that your mom made perfectly every time? Well even dogs deserve the delicious comfort of a home cooked meal every once in a while. The Sunbeam Gourmet Treat Maker is a fun and creative activity for owners, and will result in succulent soft baked treats for your hungry pup. Not to mention they are a healthy alternative to commercial treats, since you are in charge of the ingredients. Just be careful not to mistake them with your own after dinner snack.
P.L.A.Y. The sleek denim design will compliment any home décor and leave your dog lounging in style. They’ve implemented the idea that lap dogs love the feel of blue jeans. Though your lap may always be the ultimate pooch retreat, this bed will still offer a cozy alternative.
