Schmaltzy may just be the world’s most famous cat. When people think of cats, they think of feline characters such as Garfield and Hello Kitty – not real life, living, breathing, purring cats. Schmaltzy boasts the title of “the only piano playing cat in the world.” He is the star of Schmaltzy: The Piano Virtuoso, a short film that hopes to inspire children to love music and animals. Schmaltzy also serves as an “American Ambassador Cat” for the Cat Welfare Society in Israel. He even finds time for his gorgeous girlfriend. With all this on his dish, Schmaltzy certainly is the cats meow, making him one of our Most Eligible Pets.
Schmaltzy was once an ordinary kitten. He was adopted by owner Sharon Lampert from the North Shore Animal League in Long Island, and like any natural prodigy, started studying music. When he’s not composing his music, Schmaltzy serves as a “study buddy” for Lampert’s tutoring theories, that promises to transform all students into grade A students. Schmaltzy greets pupils at the door, follows them to their work station and keeps them relaxed and comfortable while they do their work. Lampert understands the importance of positive encouragement, and Schmaltzy is just that. She hopes to turn his inspiring tale into a children’s book and plush toy so children everywhere can get a little, or a lot of inspiration from Schmaltzy.
When Schmaltzy plays the piano, he loves to get dressed up. He has a number of stunning suits and other formal wear that makes him the star of the show. Perhaps that’s how he attracted his sensational girlfriend, Falafel, who is a long haired exotic “movie star.” She has appeared in a Garfield commercial and is also a talented soccer player. The two are inseparable. They walk together and even coordinate their movements, exemplifying the ideal relationship. In short, these two are purrfect.
If you ever have the chance to meet this inspiring feline, just say those magical words: “play Schmaltzy, play” and sweet music will come from his mini piano. What’s next for Schmaltzy? For more information visit: WorldFamousCats.com.
