At last, summer is upon us. Lucky and I recently attended the Bucks County Dog Show. We spent the day with this issue’s featured fashion photographer, Kenneth Zane, and a marvelous group for the “Dressed in Show” spread. To be honest, it was my first time attending a real, outdoor dog show and, well, I had a blast! I am now a true fan and can’t wait for my next show. Lucky had a great time too. She saw lots of “cousins,” played in the sun, frolicked among the trees and in the grass, breathed fresh air. What more could a Maltese rescued off the New York City streets want!?
This issue is all about summer fun with your pets— sun, picnics, lakes and beaches. We have the beautiful Pamela Anderson (who knows a little something about beaches herself) sharing her views on animal rights, updating her career-and giving us a little inside dish on a few of the very well-publicized “dog fights” in her personal life.
Also in this issue you’ll find some of John Drysdale’s amazing photographs; dogs playing tennis, water-skiing and so much more. These are some truly amazing pictures. You won’t even believe they are real! They are.
Just so nobody has to stay at home in this season of fun, we have hunted high and low to find you that special spa that will welcome both you and the animals in your life. Summer travel is for everyone, after all and even the most pampered pooch will feel right at home hanging out in this haven.
We have some real “survivors” gracing our pages, telling us of their secret summer plans. And lastly, we have a feature on Cesar Millan, the sensational “dog whisperer” whose revolutionary training techniques are changing the way people think about dog behavior. This guy is amazing. A real treasure!
