John Barman’s Pug, Buster, knows a good sleeping spot when he sees one; Kelly Graham, design director at John Barman, Inc., has designed over half a dozen plush beds especially for him! So when JANUS et Cie asked Barman and Graham to come up with a unique dog bed for the silent auction, it was a no-brainer. “Buster loves dog beds … he constantly sits on [them],” says Barman.

Barman and Graham’s dog bed, aptly titled “Buster’s bed”, was inspired by the same contemporary and 1940s French style colorful designs the team brings into their clients’ residences, including the quarters of both Brian Gumbel and Neil Simon. “The interwoven pattern and the combination of the geometry [gives the bed a French 1940 motif], but it has a somewhat classic Grecian element as well,” says Graham of his creation.

Buster, on the other hand, enjoys lounging on animal print soft pillow in particular. This playful Pug always joins Barman and Graham at their Manhattan office, where he works hard and enjoys being photographed, according to Barman. Kelly’s designs for Buster include a custom bed he designed especially for Gotham Magazine. This plush pad has a nautical motif and was based on a life raft fashioned in the classic red, white and blue colors. “I had SS Buster embroidered instead of the name of the ship,” says Kelly.
