Dear@Lucky Diamond – I’ve Got The Turning 5 In Dog Years Blues…

A smiling teenage girl cuddles a happy French bulldog on a bright sofa, both looking delighted

If you have a doggy dilemma or a confused cat looking for advice, don’t hesitate to ask Dear@LuckyDiamond @ [email protected].

Dear Lucky,

This summer I will be turning five-years-old and as you well know, that’s a big milestone in a dog’s life. I can’t decide whether to crawl under a blanket lamenting all of the things I haven’t done yet with my life or say “to heck with it” and bark at the moon with my buddies. How can I plan a truly fabulous birthday party while avoiding a mid-dog-life crisis?

Lulu, Chicago, IL

Oh Lulu,

Let me share a secret … age is only a state of mind, darling, so no more feeling sorry for yourself! You are fabulous with many great years ahead of you. For a summer birthday, why not start the celebration by meeting all of your pals for a playful romp at your local dog run or park? After working up an appetite, have your guests served with tasty treats and cake. There are many bakeries catering to us canines or your parents can get scrumptious recipes from a doggie cookbook. Don’t forget to have party hats and great music so you can howl to your heart’s content! But remember, this is your day, so you shouldn’t have to lift a paw. Let your owner take care of all the details and you just sit back and enjoy!
