I’m not the outdoorsy type, but I am a Yorkshire Terrier who adores watching for birds and cats from behind the glass! Lately, my parents have been keeping the shades closed much more. How can I convince them that keeping them open is a good thing?

Your parents can allow you to keep your lookout perch while still keeping their privacy! Sheer curtains are semi-private and still allow you check out the great outdoors. Blinds are also a good idea; ask your owner to open them a crack whenever you’re in the mood to bird watch!
