Dear @LuckyDiamond: How Can I Help Out With My Pet Parent’s Wedding?

Wendy and Hope on wedding day

Dear Lucky,

Lucky, I have a two-part problem that is quite urgent. My owner is getting married this summer to a wonderful man and I have totally given her my blessing. However, the wedding preparations are overwhelming and she is ready to tear her hair out. What can I do to relieve my sweet owner of some of her stress? On top of that, her fiancé owns a rugged and handsome German Shepherd named Hans and I am completely smitten with him! Hans and I are both in the wedding party and I think it will be the perfect occasion to “make my move.” How do I give him the green light while still playing hard to get? Thanks Lucky, you are a lifesaver!

Never fear, Daisy!

First, you both need to take a deep breath; what you two are experiencing is completely normal. Gently suggest that your owner enlist the help of a wedding planner or her family and friends. Remind her that there is a plethora of information on the Internet or at the local bookstore to help her with the details. Make sure she schedules a pampering massage, a day before the nuptials to get out all her knots! If she still feels stressed, remind her that massaging her beloved pooch is another form of stress relief – wink, wink! For the big day, be on your best behavior and she will surely reward you. Now, to one of my favorite topics…love! You will have plenty of opportunities to flirt with Hans throughout the evening. Make lots of eye contact during key moments of the ceremony, ask him to dance during a “ladies’ choice” song, and don’t be afraid to let him see you sniffing another dog – men love a challenge! When the moment presents itself, let him know your true feelings. Be honest and direct, and if he doesn’t reciprocate, he could still turn out to be a great friend.
