In a world where style and fashion rule the streets of New York, CBS correspondent and stylist, David Evangelista, works each day to promote the moral ways of dress up with animal-cruelty-free products.

With his brand-new Nashville-based show aptly

titled, “Hugs and Hairspray,” David promotes, “All of our products are animal-cruelty free and we will endorse that with the show.”

The mighty makeover TV show will air on the Shop at Home Network – reaching nearly 47 million homes – and will be a wonderful way for the American public to watch great makeovers, as well as get terrific savings on salon quality products.

“We [the show] have three hair lines – volume, treat-it and shine,” explained David, who will host the many makeovers of everyday Tennessee folk on his show.

A Philadelphia native, David began his career in the style industry after being inspired by an article in Allure magazine. “I told my parents – that’s it, I’m going to New York.” Soon after his decision to move to the Big Apple, David began to work for hairdressing tycoon Frederic Fekkai and it was all uphill from there.  He then worked side-by-side with famed makeup artist and entrepreneur Bobbi Brown, who introduced him to her client – comedian actress and talk show host, Rosie O’Donnell.

Making his major debut on the Rosie O’Donnell Show in 1996, David soon became known to the world as the “Hair Man,” and leader of “Makeover Monday” and will continue to be an artist that every beauty and animal lover will desire to work with.

We asked David about his travels – since this is of course our Travel Issue!

As the owner of two French Bulldogs – Pretzel and Roc –  he shared that his favorite places to visit are inside the US.  “This country is so huge,” he said, “There are so many types of people. The main reasons I love traveling inside our home country is the flavor.  There’s a lot of flavor.”

A true people-person David said, “My favorite part of this job is the people.  Being able to let people see themselves in a positive light and doing it for themselves is what I love most about being a stylist.”

David’s work with animal-cruelty-free products have visited magazine covers like Town and Country, Ladies Home Journal, and ROSIE Magazine.  His hair style expertise has been highlighted in special spreads for Glamour, Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly.  For more information on “Hugs and Hairspray,” log onto www.shopathometv.net.
