Discovered in a theater performance at the age of thirteen, Charlotte Ross has made a name for herself as an actress and singer who possesses invariable talent, range, and beauty. Originally from Chicago, the Los Angeles based actress joins the cast of ABC’s primetime series, NYPD Blue, as the new female lead, Detective Connie McDowell.
An avid animal lover and advocate, the actress is involved with various animal rescue organizations including PETA, The Jane Goodall Institute, SPCA/LA, The Humane Society of the United States, Doris Day Animal League, The Gorilla Foundation and more.
Herself, the owner of three dogs—Katy, a one-eyed Pekinese, Alex a lab/shepherd mix, and Taco, a stray she adopted while on location in Puerto Rico, Ross’ hopes for the future include adding a few horses to the list. The actress also aims to one day own an spacious ranch where she can maintain a no-kill site for homeless dogs looking to be adopted. Ross enjoys working with animals and has worked professionally with dogs, cats, horses, snakes, and bugs. “It’s fun!”, she says. “You learn to hide food near your face somewhere so they snuggle with you on ‘action’.”
An accomplished actress, she has worked on various television series including, Showtime’s Beggars and Choosers, where Katy was her constant companion. According to Ross, the animal friendly crew would take Katy to doggie day care, get her food, brush and bathe her and entertain her. “She was more pampered than most actresses I know (including me!!!).”
The actress admits that her dogs bring her more joy than she could have ever imagined. “I feel lucky to have found them and hope they live long, happy lives with me as we travel through life as best friends.”
