Beau Garrett, the model-actress beauty, was first seen as a model hired by GUESS. Modeling led her to a guest appearance on the popular HBO series Entourage and a role in the horror film Turistas. She was most recently seen in the film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. As Garret’s career continues to be on the rise, she loves to keep her dog Kona nearby. Kona, who Garrett affectionately nicknamed Lu-Lu, is a Black Lab-Pointer-Pit Bull mix that is extremely protective of her mother. Kona even prevented Garret from being mugged once while they were visiting Vancouver!
Since Garrett’s family has always rescued dogs, Kona was rescued from South Central Los Angeles Animal Shelter.
“It wasn’t love at first site. She was bloodied and sick. My biggest thing is eye contact. I like when a dog actually looks into your soul. There’s something about it when you connect with it and train it if they look at you. It’s very easy to train a dog when they’re connected, so that was big with her. She immediately looked at me, and it was love. She’s great with me, she has a great personality, but she’s a one-person dog. She’s loyal to me and I’m loyal to her.” Kona doesn’t even shy away from famous Oscar winners, she almost bit Dustin Hoffman!
Next up for Garrett is the comedy Made of Honor, along side Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. What type of breed of dog would Patrick Dempsey be? “I think he’d be – he’d kill me if he heard this – I think maybe a Labradoodle. He would be a pretty dog, but a loyal and smart dog.”
Currently you can catch Garrett as a spokeswoman for Revlon, along with Sheryl Crow, Halle Berry, Eva Mendes, and Jessica Alba. She is an advocate for Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian organization that delivers medical emergency aid to over 70 countries. Garrett is passionate about global warming and is in the process of researching then joining an organization that is, “working on educating teenagers and adults on being conservative and conserving what we have left in our environment.” And if that’s not enough, Garrett volunteers at the organization Ace of Hearts, a non-profit organization that helps to rescue dogs on the day they are to be euthanized. Beau Garrett’s heart is in the right place and her willingness to give and actively get involved shines through everything she does!
