All of my ladies, stand up! Sunday, March 8th is your day! International Women’s Day has been observed since in the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
Annually on March 8th, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women’s craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.
We at Animal Fair Media hold this holiday in high esteem because our own, Wendy Diamond, is the CEO & Founder of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (if you didn’t already know!).
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) – is a yearly celebration that honors, supports, and inspires women entrepreneurs in over 144 countries. WED ignites women leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to initiate startups, drive economic expansion, and advance communities worldwide. This momentous movement launched on November 19th, 2014 at the United Nations.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is an expanding movement that supports female entrepreneurs globally, and aspires to elevate the 250 million girls living in poverty. Our goal is to empower women and their businesses, and gather a think tank of women leaders that amplify their merged message of expanding businesses with social good initiatives in their communities.
On November 19th we ask women and men to dedicate the Wednesday following Thanksgiving (December 2nd, 2015) with #WomenWOW, in support of women-owned businesses. #WomenWOW activates a global movement to pledge and support a woman-owned or led business in their community with Talent, Time or Treasure. Like Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday, #WomenWOW builds on a growing international network of women entrepreneurs, their businesses, or causes. To learn more about the pledge, click HERE!
We want you to take the pledge and join! We have to bring light to women-related issues on International Women’s Day and beyond. Take the pledge HERE!
