Upscale makeup maestro and passionate political supporter Georgette Mosbacher, CEO and president of Borghese cosmetics company, has shown the world the true definition of beauty through her glamorous visage and her heart of gold – not to mention an elegant Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, her very own go-to stress reliever for both work and home. The stunning exec, who founded the Children’s Advocacy Center of Manhattan and has been a legendary fundraiser for the Republican party, grew a garden of love over the years with three spaniels: Adam and Eve (who have since passed), and Eden, a pooch with a penchant for making over frazzled souls in the business world and beyond..
Animal Fair spoke with Mosbacher to learn how this seasoned businesswoman used her canine friends to seal success with a kiss.
AF: What’s it like having Eden in the office?
GM: Eden diffuses tension. Whenever there’s stress or whenever anyone starts to get a little on edge, she just has a way of letting out a little yelp, or she’ll start to paw because she wants something, and it diffuses everything. I don’t know. There’s something about having a dog around that just makes people relax. It’s hard to have an argument when a dog is on your lap.
AF: Do pets need hair highlights or any other enhancements like humans do?
GM: Pets are just naturally beautiful. They don’t need anything else but their owner to love them and to give them a lot of affection. I’m always letting Eden know that she’s a treasure. People say when they meet Eden here, “Oh my gosh, she’s got the same hair color as you,” and I say, “It’s the other way around, my hair color matches hers.”
WD: Now is Eden a Republican or Democrat?
GM: Oh no, Eden is Republican. This is a smart dog, a very intelligent breed, so they are only Republicans.
WD: Who are some of the fun people who have met Eden?
GM: Well, she just met President George H.W. Bush last week, He was over for dinner, so she met the 41st president of the U.S. Anyone who knows me, even casually, will know Eden since she goes everywhere with me. But I think I keep good company, so she’s a lucky girl.
AF: What advice would you give to young women hoping to become top execs one day?
GM: Tenacity. Don’t quit, don’t give up. That’s true with anything and everything in life. It’s no different with business.
Mosbacher, an icon in beauty and business, knows a girl’s secret to eternal gorgeousness lies in the undying love of a precious pooch.
