A picture-perfect partnership between Sony and Petco has cast the spotlight, and more than a few snapshots, on animal adoption awareness. Since creating its Petco Foundation in 1999, the pet supply chain has shown profound commitment to “thinking adoption first,” raising widespread awareness and (approx.) $81 million to find forever homes for over 2.8 million animals. The foundation donates about $15 million each year for companion animals, and holds monthly adoption events at Petco stores. Visit the website to learn when and where you can adopt.
In teaming up with Petco, Sony’s promoting pups and giving pet parents yet another reason document their doggies. The Bloggie, Sony’s new line of pocket-sized cameras, is ideal for dogs, and their people, who are constantly on the move. To capture the first swims, dogpark days, and even mischievous moments, choose among four Bloggie models: The Bloggie, Bloggie Duo, Bloggie touch, and Bloggie 3D (no glasses needed).
To kick off this year’s adoptions, Gavin Degraw, a singer/songwriter and self-proclaimed animal lover, performed a free concert. Gavin, a former NYC dog walker and animal lover was all about puppy love! When asked what dog breed was most similar to his personality, the canine-loving crooner chose a bulldog, reasoning that he’s “a combination of rambunctious and incredibly calm.” But what about his ideal woman in a breed of dog? A Greyhound, “just because I need somebody to chase and they are hard tocatch,” Gavin informed us. Before saying goodbye, Gavin mentioned a recent missed connection, with Gus, a “really chubby [rescue] bulldog” whom he met a few weeks ago with us backstage at the NBC Today show. Gus, if you’re reading this… or anyone is interested.. Gus is still up for adoption from the Humane Society of New York!
