In Wendy’s Doghouse: Bravo Mad Fashion’s Chris March

In celebration of AnimalFair’s  11th annual Paws for Style benefit appearance on tonight’s episode of Bravo’s Mad Fashion, the show’s star designer, Chris March got his turn in Wendy’s doghouse! You may also know Chris from season four of Bravo’s hit show, Project Runway, and dresses fabulous celebrities such as Madonna, Prince, Beyonce Knowles, and Meryl Streep, among others. Now in the doghouse, Chris March gets the chance to talk about his fantastic flair for canine companionship.

Wendy Diamond: So I hear your boyfriend has a dog?

Chris March: My boyfriend has the cutest, coolest dog in the world–an English Bulldog named “Rufus”.

WD: Why did you and your boyfriend choose that name?

CM: Rufus is named after the singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright.

WD: Adorable! Why did you decide to get your dog?

CM: Because they are the best–Rufus is the successor to a few others…

Nowadays, it seems that you can’t bring up Bravo without mentioning Andy Cohen, the channel’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming, as well as the host of The Real Housewives franchise and the weekly show, Watch What Happens Live. Naturally, I couldn’t resist!

WD: If Andy Cohen was a dog, what breed do you think he would be?

CM: Well, he has to be Giggy the Pomeranian, since that’s what I dressed him as for Halloween!

WD: So if Rufus were celebrity –who would he be?

CM: Rufus would be king of the world because everybody loves him!

Over the years, Chris March has put together designs for numerous charity events, using his talents and skills to do his part in bettering the world we live in for not only people, but animals, too!

WD: What is your favorite pet charity to work with and why?

CM: Paws for Style, because I love dogs!

Debuting in 1999, Paws for Style was the first ever pet fashion show, used as a charity event to raise money for the Humane Society of New York. This upcoming year will mark their 12th year of fundraising.

WD:  Who knew you participated in our inaugarul Paws for Style?

CM:  Behind the scenes I designed a few Joe Boxer dog outfits.  The maddest dog outfit was a leopard print Liberace capes with sequined piano keys for John McDaniel’s dogs.

John McDaniels is a Grammy and Emmy-award-winning composer, conductor and orchestrator, who is also the proud parent of three dogs, Beauregard, Joanne and Hillary.

We certainly appreciate his talents and hard work! Don’t forget to tune in to Bravo’s Mad Fashion Tuesday, November 22nd at 10PM to see a special guest appearance by AnimalFair, including Lucky and me! For more information about the show, please visit our article here.
