Teri Byrne

Former WCW Nitro Girl, Teri Byrne, nicknamed “Fyre” for her crimson locks, “fiery” personality, and let’s not forget about her last name, carries a torch for animals in need. Recognized for donating her spare time to speaking out against animal cruelty, Teri’s focal points include the inhumane treatment of greyhounds and the mistreatment of Saddle bred horses.

Born in Pensacola, Florida, Teri’s heart belongs to Atlanta, Georgia, where she was raised and still resides. Her affection for animals has developed since childhood. She grew up around dogs and cats and she owes her love of horses to her father who bred and raised Arabians.

After attending college at Arizona State University on an academic scholarship, where she majored in communications and public speaking, Teri began to compete in fitness and bodybuilding exhibitions. This pastime opened up doors for Teri and she was rapidly singled out and selected to become a feature performer for TNT’s Monday Night Nitro program. After a three-year stretch with the program, Teri became known as the animal enthusiast of the squad.

Putting to use her background in public speaking and communication, Teri became an active spokesperson for animal rights, educating and advising the general public on the significance of animal welfare and the role that we can all play in promoting the cause.

Byrne is the proud parent of two adorable pets; a Dalmatian named Domino and an elderly, gray tabby-cat named Mr. Mittens (Mitt for short). Domino -l was a Humane Society adoptee while Mitt was orphaned as an adolescent and picked up on a construction site in California. This dynamic duo are bosom buddies and are just wild about Teri. Now why a Dalmatian? A “fyre”man’s best friend??? Pure coincidence, says Byrne. She adopted Domino prior to adopting her nickname!

While Teri doesn’t get to travel often with her pets, they do have free reign of the house. “They are allowed pretty much anywhere, except in the kitchen when I am cooking,” she says. As for sleeping arrangements, given the choice, Domino and Mitt will choose Teri’s bed over their own any day.

Professionally, Teri made her motion picture debut in the film Ready to Rumble where she was featured as one of the WCW Nitro Girls. Keep an eye out for Teri in an upcoming HBO documentary about redheaded celebrities, which is scheduled for release this October. She will also be featured in a future summer issue of Femme Fatales magazine.

While no longer an active member of the WCW Nitro Team, Teri still devotes her efforts to animals in need. She will be participating in a special autograph signing for the Southern Hope Humane Society in Georgia on August 12th and 13th. An adopt-a thon has also been organized in combination with Teri’s signing.
