New this Christmas, in Gilbert Arizona, is a special event raising money for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. It’s the 12K’s of Christmas, to be held at the Town of Gilbert’s Freestone District Park on Saturday December 12th from 8 am to 2 pm.
This unique family festival celebrating health, fitness and the joy of Christmas will feature a chip-timed 12K run, where runners will race in a “Sea of Santas” with Santa Hats for each participant and Caroling groups at every K. Along with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, there will be a prize for the best “Christmas-themed” running outfit and collectible finishers pins for all.
For families and kids, there will be a 1.2K Santa “Sled Run” with prizes for the best decorated entry (bike, wagon, stroller), cutest pet entry, and Christmas spirit awards sponsored by local businesses.
The festival will host a Christmas Bazaar showcasing Christmas-related items and a Santa’s “Pet” Village where Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and other local rescue groups will be on hand for families looking to find a new furry friend.
We’d like to invite your rescue group to participate, and vendors to join our Christmas Bazaar. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Maricopa County Animal Care.
