LA fashion label, Rock & Republic, exudes sex appeal with its edgy, progressive range of denim, T-shirts and sexy tailoring. Each style is inspired by past and present music legends and includes such attire as “the Roth,” “the Siouxia,” and “the Costello.” Since launching three short years ago, Rock & Republic has grown in popularity at rapid speeds. Celebrity clients include Gwen Stefani, Cameron Diaz, Molly Sims, Usher, Tyra Banks and Avril Lavigne.
It all began when CEO/Designer Michael Ball made a pair of jeans for his then girlfriend. From this single pair of jeans, a collection was created. Ball’s longtime friend and managing partner, Andrea Bernholtz explains “Rock & Republic specializes in the perfect fit. Denim is our strength and as we expand our product line, our perfect fit will remain our specialty. I love to share ideas or have custom clothes made and Michael gets to be creative and concentrate on women’s butts! We both get to mix our passion for music and fashion.” Since comfort is a huge component, Michael and Andrea have partnered with Lycra. Each jean is made with this material and both companies are currently working on some great ad campaigns together. Rock & Republic has also been collaborating with Victoria Beckham, Ex-Spice Girl and David Beckham’s spouse. The new fall collection features a crown on the back pocket and is sure to be the hottest denim of the season.
Andrea takes five to chat with Animal Fair about the pooches of Rock & Republic. “Bob and Emma come to work every day, keeping the mood light and relaxed. They always bring a smile to people’s faces. An imperative part of our job includes having people in and out of our offices for meetings and styling opportunities. Bob and Emma are always there to greet and befriend all guests of Rock & Republic. Bob sits on top of my desk at work. They also take turns spooning when they cuddle in bed. Bob is very spoiled. He is less than a year old and can be considered
bi-coastal. He travels regularly between LA and NY and has been to Paris Fashion Week to watch the shows. He has even visited Germany, Italy and Greece. Emma likes to stay close to Michael in LA. She sets up shop in Michael’s office and her bed is in his bedroom.” Of course, Michael and Andrea make sure their adorable Cavalier King Charles pups don’t miss out on the fashion perks. Both Bob and Emma have their own custom pieces to paint the town blue. That just plain ‘ole rocks!
