Rescue Ink is a one-of-a-kind animal rescue group. They are a self-labeled “in-your-face approach to ending animal abuse and neglect.” Consisting of tattooed muscle men, they definitely can get in your face. Their appearance helps them to confront animal abusers and save animals. “We do everything that is necessary within the means of the law,” says Rescue Ink member Big Ant. Often, they put themselves in dangerous situations, like dog fighting dens, so they can protect animals.
Even though these guys are tough, they have a soft spot in their heart for their dogs. “We love the animals, but some of them stick to us… We have to take them home,” said Big Ant. Many of the Rescue Ink members cuddled with rescued dogs during the interview. Even the members who didn’t have their dogs with them gushed about their beloved rescue pets. “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened,” said Batso of his Pit Bull, Inka. Joe Pantz spoke of his Mastiff-Pit Bull mix named Bond, who was scheduled to be put down before Joe fell in love with him.
Rescue Ink is spread throughout the tri-state area. “We’re all friends. We all believe in the same thing. We don’t like people being abused and we don’t like animals being abused,” explained Joe Pantz.
Overall, the members of Rescue Ink have big hearts that rival their big muscles. “We’re doing great work. We do it with our hearts… We’ve placed animals back to their owners and they’re complete again, and that’s what we love to do.”
