Picture Perfect Pets – Amanda Jones Photography

Life is looking up for these Dachshunds in a row!

In 1996, after years of commercial photography left her bored and uninspired, San Francisco-based Amanda Jones began photographing animals.  The first dog she ever really got to know was “Ruby”, her best friend’s yellow Labrador Retriever. The young pup made a remarkable model and the images came out so beautfully people began asking Ms. Jones to photograph their dogs as well. Today she specializes in creating one-of-a kind portraits of family pets – and couldn’t imagine herself doing anything else. During shoots, Ms. Jones attempts to capture the expressiveness and individual character of her subjects. “It never gets boring photographing animals,” she says.  “I love that each one is different.”  She does claim, however, that dogs are easier to work with than cats.“  Dogs will stick around for food,” says Jones.  “Cats, on the other hand, are not so easily swayed!”
