Palm Springs Rises To the Level Of One Of The Pet-friendliest Cities In The Country

Everybody likes vacations, but finding a way to take that luxurious time away from everyday life isn’t always easy if you’ve got a furry friend at home. Securing kennels and pet-sitters can be a nightmare – not to mention expensive – and sometimes just the idea of leaving Peanut the Golden Retriever with a stranger is enough to keep you from boarding the plane at all.

Unless, of course, you’re going to glorious Palm Springs, California. A vacation destination that not only welcomes dogs but pampers and caters to their every four-legged whim.

The most pet-friendly hotel in Palm Springs, the Andreas Hotel and Spa offers more than just a beautiful location and wonderful massages. For a small fee, doggie guests are given their very own beds (which are cleaned daily), dishes, and treats. Taking their love of dogs even further, the Andreas also donates 25 percent of the pet fee to the local animal shelter. Looking for a little Hollywood Glam? The legendary Riviera Hotel and Spa is a sophisticated, luxury resort with exotic rooms, indulgent spa treatments, and a firm commitment to show your pet all the love in the world. The Viceroy Hotel is another pet friendly establishment, offering in-hotel pet sitting and walking, a pooch friendly pool, and one of the best dog-only menus in the area! With items like grilled chicken with stone-ground oatmeal and roasted vegetables, organic meatballs and pasta, rib eye steak with eggs and peanut butter and jelly French Toast, The Viceroy’s Pooch Menu is tasty enough to make even the human counterparts drool!

After wining and dining yourselves, you and your dog can take a stroll to Pawz Palm Springs, a “hip pet shop for petrosexuals”, and grab a designer coffee at the dog friendly Koffi cafй. Get you pup (and yourself) something nice at Cold Nose Warm Heart and have a puppy party and buy some designer duds at Puppy La La, part of the upscale sportswear franchise Ooh La La. Give your pampered pooch a pit stop back at the hotel while you take a breathtaking trip on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and then pick them up again for a soft stroll through the Moorten Botanical Garden. Late in the day take yet another yummy break at the all natural Three Dog Bakery or Bones and Scones, where your dog can order their very own ground beef and liver birthday cake.

Make sure to visit the 1.6 acre Palm Springs Dog Park (antique fire hydrants included) and the Puppy Luv Pet Salon before capping the day off at one of the many pet-friendly restaurants in the area.

So next time you’re stressing about balancing vacation time for you and care for your four-legged love, consider sunny, sumptuous Palm Springs. Your pet will be so thankful, they may just stop peeing behind the couch – at least for a while.
