One-on-One Workout with Jackie Warner and her Chihuahua Pichu

Jackie Warner is proof that a woman can have it all. Best known as the star of Bravo’s hit reality series Workout, Jackie is a fitness pioneer, successful entrepreneur, clothing designer, star of the best-selling DVD One on One Training with Jackie, and a proud mom to eight and a half year old Pichu. I recently caught up with Warner and frequent Chihuahua co-star, Pichu, at Jackie’s Beverly Hills gym, Sky Sport & Spa, to find out what these two have been up to since the cameras stopping rolling.

For those who have not seen Workout, the show chronicles Warner’s triumphs and challenges while running a multi-media fitness empire and navigating the often topsy-turvy world of romance. It’s catchy to say the least. As a reality show junkie, I had to know-now that both Warner and Pichu are household names, which of the two has become a bigger handful. “I love him, but it’s definitely Pichu,” she says with a laugh. “No, actually he was pretty camera shy. Members of the crew would feed him during filming, and it becomes pretty clear which crewmembers were doing that. Those were his favorites. I think Pichu is the only cast member that actually gained weight during the show.”

It was this spunky personality that caught Warner’s eye when Pichu first came into her life. “I always knew I wanted a Chihuahua. I know it may sound odd, but I love tiny things. I wanted to get the smallest dog possible.” Certainly she s=Found the right fit with Pichu who was only one pound when Warner brought him home, what Pichu lacked in size, he made up for in heart. And, soon the puppy was thriving.

“I spent years going to Los Angeles’s poorest neighborhoods, helping to find homes for abandoned pets. So, I took the idea of having a dog very seriously. I researched the breed really thoroughly, and when I saw Pichu, I just knew he was the one”. Volunteering is not the only thing Jackie does..

Her next projects have Warner keeping very busy. She is currently putting together her second DVD, is writing a fitness and nutrition book, and just shot a pilot for a new Bravo show. Jackie is also prepping for her upcoming fitness retreat, SkyLab, which will take place this June at Dolphin Bay Resort in Central California.

So, will Pichu be joining Warner again on television soon? “No. I think we are going to give him a rest. After being a child star, it’s time he returned to a normal dog’s life. Besides, I don’t want to have to put him on another diet”.
