You probably know Justin Theroux best from his role as “the villain” in the recent revamped “Charlie’s Angels” movie.  Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, but I bet you didn’t know that he is quite a rescuer.  Theroux enjoys decorating his apartment with what many people consider junk or garbage, but you know what they say: “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.”

The actor loves his Greenwich Village apartment, which he says is filled with things pulled out of dumpsters.  Even though he was in a movie that took $120 million to make, this is how he prefers to live.  To him it’s more comfortable.  His apartment, which he shares with his two dogs, is very eclectic, to say the least.

There was a point when he would just go around to the dumpsters in the West Village and search for decor.  He would even cover things that he liked with more garbage if it was too big for him to carry and would come back for it later.

Not only does Theroux like to rescue furnishings for his apartment, but his dog Pooma, a pit bull terrier, was a rescue too.  Pooma was found wandering the streets of New York City.  When Theroux found her she was wearing a thick metal chain around her neck.  It is though that she had run away from an abusive owner and now Pooma lives comfortably with Theroux and his Weimeraner/pit bull mix, Lou Lou.

“Would you ever dream of chaining up your best friend outside?”

Theroux’s experience with Pooma must have influenced him greatly because he became involved with PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.  PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world.  They are dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals.  Theroux helped with a PSA, public service announcement, for PETA, which targeted millions of people who keep their dogs chained outside.

They launched the PSA to coincide with their “Unchain a Dog” Month.  In this campaign Theroux appeared with his two dogs, Pooma and Lou Lou, thus illustrating a side to him that is much different from the roles he plays as an actor.

As Theroux stated in PETA’s PSA “Would you ever dream of chaining up your best friend outside?”  Dogs are supposed to be “man’s best friend”.  Never throw away something that isn’t garbage.  For more information contact: www.peta2.com.
