Lynea Lattanzio, caretaker of over 700 cats, claims that she is no “Crazy Cat Lady!”

We’ve all heard of the “crazy cat lady” stereotype, but California’s Lynea Lattanzio may just take the cake! Sharing her 12 acres property which she calls “The Cat House on the Kings” (named for its location on the Kings river) with over 700 cats and 15 dogs, Lattanzio’s remarkable life is scheduled to be featured on National Geographic WILD’s new series, “The Lady with 700 Cats” premiering Saturday at 10PM. Though the choice of the hilarious Jane Lynch as the narrator for the series may seem to mark Lattanzio’s operation as a parody, a deeper look into the sanctuary for homeless animals that she has created proves that calling this kind-hearted soul a “Crazy Cat Lady” couldn’t be further from the truth.

As a child, Lattanzio was forbidden from having any pets, and her desire for Puppy Love burned so intensely that it finally manifested in the form of her sprawling facility. Advertising through Petfinder.com and Facebook, Lattanzio works tirelessly to take in cats of all shapes, breeds, temperaments, and histories and provide them with a comfortable and safe environment. Lattanzio’s no-cage, no-kill cat sanctuary feeds, shelters, and provides medical attention for each and every one of its feline residents, including an old age home for the elderly among her brood. But Lattanzio’s doors are not shut to those felines who are only looking for a temporary fix. Lynea offers short term boarding for pet parents who want to give their cats the ultimate “kennel” experience as well as affordable spaying and neutering (a must if Lattanzio hopes to keep her occupancy at lease somewhat stable!)

Though her choices may be extreme, there is no doubt that Lynea Lattanzio is certainly living the pet lifestyle with the best of them. We love to see people who dedicate their lives to helping the underdog (or in this case cat) and for that reason we honor Lynea and the help that she has given to those who cannot help themselves.

Best of all, The Cat House on the Kings offers an adoption service, so if you are planning on being in the California area do yourself and Lynea Lattanzio a favor by visiting her website and providing one of her 700 cats a home!
