Lucky Goes Green

This week Lucky and I did some major red-eyeing back to New York from LA. The traveling, however, was appropriate because we came in town to do NBC’s Today Show to discuss traveling with your pet – something Lucky has become a global expert on. Joining myself and Lucky “doggy diva” Diamond were some cuddly, adoptable dogs from the Humane Society of New York (HumaneSocietyNY.org). There were some Broadway Bull Dogs from Legally Blonde the musical. Everybody was coming out to support homeless animals, and Lucky enjoyed not being the only canine on set. Unfortunately because we’re still filming Greatest American Dog,  we missed Jana Kohl (and her dog, Baby Kohl’s) book release party for her book A Rare Breed of Love out in LA. The book is to raise awareness about the horrors of Puppy Mills, the beauty of adoption and to help support welfare of all animals. Our doggy spies tell us that Tia Carrere, Phoebe Price, Bridget “Girls Next Door” Marquardt and Cheri Oteri all stopped by to show their support.
Back in LA Lucky and I attended the Planet Green Premiere Event and Concert in Los Angeles where we ran into lots of rockets, rappers and dog-lovers! Planet Green is an offspring network from Discovery Networks and is the first and only 24-hour eco-lifestyle television network.
At the opening we chatted with a lot of Greenies (not the dog treats!) Comedien Tommy Davidson told us he isn’t quite ready for dogs because he can’t even train his kids right now (and he travels too much). Once he can train his kids… then he would love a dog. Meanwhile rocker Tommy Lee told us he keeps Koi fish but chooses not to name them because the minute he names them, they seem do go belly up, telling us, “It’s like one day I’ll say ‘hey Sparky’ and the next day Sparky’s dead!” Lucky and I stuck with the musicians that night and hung with rapper Ludacris’s crew. Ludacris kept calling Lucky and I “dogs” but I understand that’s rapper lingo. Lucky wasn’t so understanding, but I told her to be glad they weren’t calling us “bitches!”  Ludacris told me he’d like me to help him adopt a black German Sheppard. Why a megaselling rap superstar would need my help getting one of the rarest breeds… I do not know, but as usual, I’ll give it a shot!  Also in Ludacris’s crew was Batman, Willy and Four Eyes. Batman was the older father-like figure who has a Pit Bull of his own named Grand Champion, but they just call him Champion.  Willy wasn’t a dog lover, but after we started talking he got into them. Lee and Ludacris were there to promote their new Green show Battleground Earth where the music stars compete in green living and performing challenges. Other green supporters that showed up were close Animal Fair friends Adrian Grenier and Maria Menounos and we also saw Cedric the Entertainer, Tom Green, and Ziggy Marley!
