Do you believe in puppy love at first sight? This was the case for Lara Spencer, the host of CBS’s entertainment news program The Insider, when she laid eyes on rescue dogs Dandy and Harry. Unsure of their breeds but certain of her decision to adopt, Spencer happily made room in her heart and home for these two adorable and vivacious pooches! Like two peas in a furry pod. Dandy and Harry have been partners in crime since the very first sniff, and share a love of doggy treats, the outdoors, and the lovely Lara Spencer!
Harry was left a stray on the streets after Hurricane Katrina. Spencer found him listed on the website www.Labs4Rescue.com, a no-kill animal shelter in Louisiana. Devastatingly handsome with his curly doggy-fro, Harry was quite pup-ular and had lots of play dates in Connecticut before they moved to Los Angeles where Spencer became the sole host of The Insider. Once settled in, Spencer decided it was time to give Harry a four-footed little brother. She discovered Dandy while pawing through the site www.billfoundation.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs from the Los Angeles shelter system. What was it that got her attention? Spencer says it was his “under-bite that won me over!” Along with his endearing under-bite, Dandy is quite a ladies man, especially if that lady has a treat. He loves being on set with Spencer. He barks around set at least once a week, and is considered the mascot of The Insider. Dandy has also been featured on the segment “Lara’s Wardrobe Cam,” and although he doesn’t actually sniff out the outfits to be worn, the wardrobe room is his fur-vorite because of all of the colors and people.
When it comes to Harry and Dandy’s interview skills, Spencer thinks they make better reporters instead, investigative reporters that is! Giving the third degree with their melting puppy-dog eyes, these clever canines always find what they’re looking for food of course! Upon your own investigation of their furry faces, it’s easy to see why Spencer has a couple of celebs in mind when asked who in Hollywood her canine children looked most like. For Dandy, Spencer believes he looks a bit like singer Peter Cetera, and Harry, she says, resembles funny man Will Ferrell. What breed would Spencer be if given a choice? A mutt, she says, because “they have a great personality, and don’t rely on looks. The looks are just a bonus!” We couldn’t agree more!
Being a couple of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywoof, Dandy and Harry are the new Ben Affleck and Matt Damon with their good looks, great style and charming demeanor. When it comes to finding their number one lady, they don’t have to sniff farther than their own backyard (or kitchen), as long as they don’t mind sharing!
