A racecar driver for 27 years and counting, Kevin Harvick knows how to leave his mark on the tracks. After receiving his first go-kart at age five, Harvick has excelled for what seems to be dog years. NASCAR’s 75 million racecar devotees and fans nationwide have watched his driving skills and he has proven his racing talent through his many wins, including a big Daytona 500 win!

In addition to racing, Harvick and his wife, DeLana, created a NASCAR team, Kevin Harvick, Inc. However, Harvick and his wife are not the only ones racing in circles at their house: they watch their three dogs zoom around and chase their tails all day! With a pit crew of two German Shepherds, one Chihuahua, and two cats, Harvick really knows how to keep focused, not stray, and always aim for the finish line.

After marrying DeLana, the two newlyweds adopted a Bull Mastiff, named Backup. Unfortunately, Backup did not get along with DeLana’s two cats, Sebastian and Liza so they found him a more suitable home. Next, the Harvicks adopted two German Shepherds, Bebe and Endy.

To accompany the two Shepherds, Harvick also is a parent of a Teacup Chihuahua, named Little One (a.k.a. LO). “The Chihuahua thinks it’s the same size as a German Shepherd,” Harvick says. His three pooches, along with his two cats serve as a driving force in Harvick’s high speed life.

Racing quickly with someone chasing his tail causes Harvick to stress out. “So that’s probably my worst pet peeve, is somebody that rides right on your tail.” I’m sure the LO feels the same way when running in circles.

Harvick usually takes LO with him on the the road. “We usually keep the Chihuahua in the motor home. LO stays on the road and the big dogs usually stay at home,” Harvick says.

On and off the tracks Harvick makes it evident that he is living the life he has always dreamed of. His pit crew gave him the pet name “Happy” because of his constant grin.

Harvick has earned many accolades and his driving accomplishments are impressive. He is the first NASCAR driver in history to run full time in both the Busch and Winston Cup series, totaling over 70 races. In addition, he is one of two drivers to win at least two races in each of the National Series (Craftsman, Busch, and Nextel Cup).

Although racecar driving is not for the weak, Harvick revealed his softer side, “My life pretty much revolves around racing, unless LO’s around … then it’s all about her.”
