Dynamic brother and sister duo, Jenna and Cayden Boyd, are gaining attention from Hollywood execs and building themselves impressive resumes for such young bucks. After tackling local markets, they moved to Hollywood to explore opportunities out West. Turns out, acting chops must run in the family! These talented actors from Fort Worth, Texas have been working consistently and were both featured in the Hollywood Reporter as “Ones To Watch.”
Jenna Boyd, 12 years old, recently finished filming the role of “Bailey Graffman” in the much anticipated film, SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS with Amber Tamblyn. “It comes out June 3rd! I can’t wait,” Jenna exclaims. “I play a girl with leukemia, so it was pretty challenging.” Other credits include her memorable lead role of “Dot Gilkeson” in Ron Howard’s western-thriller, THE MISSING, alongside Hollywood heavy weights Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones. “Tommy Lee Jones was like my real grandpa. Cate Blanchett is my idol. Her facial expressions are great. She doesn’t force anything- it just comes naturally,” Jenna explains. “THE MISSING was the most difficult movie I’ve ever done. I had a lot of emotional scenes and that’s not an easy thing to do. I had to cry in it. It’s tough, because I’m a very happy person!”
Jenna also worked on the William Freidkin film, THE HUNTED and starred as Sally in DICKIE ROBERTS: FORMER CHILD STAR, opposite David Spade. TV achievements include roles in SIX FEET UNDER, CSI, JUST SHOOT ME AND CARNIVALE. So, who keeps this energetic actress company on set? Her beloved miniature Jack Russell terrier, Tippie, of course! “She’s 1 years old and I love her. She’s so hyper. She comes with me when I’m shooting movies and stays in my trailer. It’s nice to come back and see her there. She loves to play,” Jenna admits. Tippie has even gotten a taste of what it’s like to be in the makeup chair. “One time, I put everything on her. Eye shadow, mascara, blush… I guess I was really bored that day!” she cracks up. Tippie sure is living life large. Movie sets, makeup, constant playmates. “She is so spoiled. She has a huge basket full of toys. We give her people food too. She dies over steak. If you give her a piece of steak, she’ll love you forever. She’s amazing. I can’t picture my life without her in it!” Jenna gushes.
Cayden Boyd, 10 years old, is quickly following in his big sister’s footsteps. He recently landed the role of “Max” in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming film THE ADVENTURES OF SHARK BOY AND LAVA GIRL IN 3-D, out in theaters the summer of 2005. “I had so much fun as Max! We got to work in front of a green screen. I was hooked up to a harness and loved doing flips and stuff on the wires!” Cayden says.
Cayden also costarred in the Oscar Winning film, MYSTIC RIVER as the son of Tim Robbins and Marcia Gay Harden. “Mystic River was great because I got to work with Clint Eastwood. He was amazing. One day I was eating lunch and Clint sat down next to me. I playfully said ‘You really are dirty, aren’t ya Harry?’ Clint looked at me with that face and replied ‘The dirtiest!’ It was so funny!” Other supporting roles for this jokester include DODGEBALL and FREAKY FRIDAY. Small screen appearances: THE KING OF QUEENS, SCRUBS and CROSSING JORDAN.
According to Cayden, “I was the one who named our dog. She’s all white, with black tips on her ears. That’s how I thought of the name, Tippie. She is such a good dog. She loves to play ball. I play catch with her all the time. Tippie is very energetic. She’s always up and wanting attention,” Cayden says. “Tippie even sleeps with me at night. She’s part of the family.” Keep an eye out for these two go-getters, as they continue to “tip” the Hollywood scales!
