Happy 99th Birthday Betty White – You’re Our Animal Advocate Hero!

BettyWhite

Animal Fair Media wishes Betty White lots of puppy love on her  Birthday! It’s safe to say that each and every one of us would love Betty White to be our wise and funny next door neighbor. All right, we will never be so lucky, but this young at heart beloved  blonde has truly been a caring friend to animals of all shapes and sizes throughout her entire life.

Betty White advocates for several animal rights groups, animal health organizations, and has been a member of the board of trustees at the Greater Los Angeles Zoo for over 30 years. She is celebrated as an actor with a career spanning six decades. She has earned her much-deserved place in the hearts of humans and animals alike. The iconic actor has used her voice to raise awareness about pet overpopulation and animal welfare with groups such as the Morris Animal Foundation, PETA, and Actors and Others for Animals (where she advocates a spay/neuter campaign cheekily known as Betty’s Bucks for Balls).

“I started in 1949. I had a 5 1/2 hour a day, 6 day a week talk show, and … I’d always work animals in somehow. And then I did a series called The Pet Set. Well, I had celebrity friends like Jimmy Steward, Doris Day, and Rock Hudson, a lot of people with their pets. And then I would write the show around their interest in animals. Well, that’s like a kid in a candy store, you know,” White reveals.

Though she dedicates her life to helping animals in need all over the world, at the end of the day, Betty has one lucky pet that captures her heart and soul. Pontiac, her loving golden retriever gives this “Golden Girl” quite the guilt trip whenever she flies around the world filming classic movies or starring in hit TV shows.

“If you’re come in from a bad day and you just have the touch of an animal…it just kind of calms everything down. They are wonderful caretakers,” White muses.

Betty White may forever be remembered as the innocently sweet Golden Girl‘s Rose Nylund from St. Olaf, but in reality she is beyond intelligent, hilariously quick-witted, truly generous of time and talent, a devoted lifelong animal advocate, and a woman certainly born with a heart of pure gold.

“Animals are near and dear to my heart, and I want to help them live longer, healthier lives.”
