In 1998, Kate Schelter founded her full service agency after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design and RISD European Honors Program in Rome. She has established an impressive roster of clients, based on her commitment to provide excellent creative direction and visual superiority in all media. This New York implant photographs up and coming trends and “It” girls for some of the biggest magazines: Vogue, Style.com, V Magazine, Teen Vogue and Lucky. Kate has also trend-reported for Victoria’s Secret, The Limited Brands and Look-Looks. A well respected stylist and trendsetter, Kate art directs for Hollywood shoes, Lucy Sykes Baby and has assisted styling celebrities for Vanity Fair, Vogue and Got Milk?
In Hollywood, some of Kate’s accomplishments include designing motion graphics for Pink Martini’s award-winning Sympathique music video and art directing viral and guerilla marketing campaigns for Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, Disney Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Lorne Michaels’ Burly Bear Network.
Kate tells Animal Fair, “I have a 3 month old longhaired Chihuahua puppy, Bear. I got my puppy from Pinebark Chihuahuas, the best breeders in upstate New York. You could tell how loved he’d been before I got him because he was so sweet and well-behaved. He’s met all my friends – he’s definitely the Kate Schelter mascot! I call him Shark Bunny since he has huge ears, hops all around and nips with his tiny teeth (he’s teething – and friendly). The funniest thing about having a dog is that suddenly everyone is calling and asking about him, saying how much they LOVE him! I think people feel more comfortable expressing their feelings to a pet than to their owner. They’re like babies – you can express infinite love and interest in them without seeming like a crazy stalker! ”
Kate’s eye for the latest and greatest trends has been passed down to her darling Bear as well! “He’s a stylish dog for sure. His first gift was a ‘Chewy Vuitton’ stuffed toy purse and he was given mini Izod shirts from a dear friend! He licks my feet while I work at my desk and helps me stay playful and not get too stressed out. I also spend a lot of time 8 inches off the ground with him – it shifts my creative visual perspective. He is tiny and completely bold, fearless and friendly. I love his courage!” As for future pet-themed projects, Kate declares: “I’m sure they will come! Everything I do is inspired by my life and the people and pets in it. I’m trying to get him on the cover of Vogue!”
